What is gastrointestinal Surgery?
The components of the body involved in digesting are operated on during gastrointestinal surgery. The stomach, oesophagus, small and large intestines, and rectum may all be affected. It can be used to remove malignant growths, damaged sections, or blockages from the bodily parts described above.
The procedure can be performed in an open or minimally invasive manner.
Under the influence of anaesthetic, incisions are made in the belly area, and the intestine is reached and the obstruction is removed slowly after passing through the other organs.
A general anaesthetic will be delivered to the patient during the least invasive laparoscopic method, and he or she will be unconscious during the procedure.
Once the patient is unconscious, incisions around the belly button are made, and a tiny device known as a port is implanted, which creates a hole in the abdomen that will be filled with gas (carbon dioxide).
A Laparoscope (a Laparoscope is a small instrument with a narrow tube that has a light source and camera at the end of the tube) is inserted through these incisions, and the surgeon is able to locate the affected body part using the Laparoscope’s video camera. The damaged/affected part is then removed using surgical equipment through the other incisions, and the incisions are then sealed using surgical glue or staples.
The IV will provide a consistent supply of nourishment during the treatment.
